PURPOSE:To count fine particle such as a granule by analyzing an image obtained through a microscope to which a television camera is fitted by an image processor, counting elements that the obtained image has automatically, and computing the result by a personal computer. CONSTITUTION:Glass 1 where the powder to be counted is scattered is mounted on the microscope 2. The television camera 3 is fitted to the microscope 2 and image information from the camera 3 is inputted to the image processor 4 and a monitor 5 displays the image information from the camera 3 and the progress of the process from the processor 4. Further, the processor 4 is capable of communicating with the personal computer 5, which controls a series of operations. Then if there are too many particles scattered in an image plane to process the image for the counting, the picture is divided automatically to perform counting in each divided range and totalize the counted results, and the number of particles which are counted repeatedly is subtracted from the total value to obtain the result.
