A brake system especially for motor vehicles is proposed, which has at least one brake pressure transducer (1) and at least two wheel brakes (3, 4), which are connected to the brake pressure transducer (1), a brake pressure control device (2) being provided between the brake pressure transducer (1) and a first wheel brake (4). In order to obtain a brake pressure distribution characteristic curve with return decrease even where a simple brake pressure control device is used, it is proposed that a first non-return valve (5) opened in the actuating direction be provided between the brake pressure transducer (1) and the second wheel brake and a second non-return valve (6), closing in the actuating direction, be provided in a connection between brake pressure transducer (1) and first wheel brake (4), the brake pressure control device (2) being connected between each of the non-return valves (5, 6) and the wheel brakes (3, 4) respectively. <IMAGE>
