In a mobile toy having a step-down transmission with toothed gear wheels between the drive motor and driven wheels, in order to safeguard the step-down transmission against overload, provision is made for the step-down transmission to have at least one gear wheel (8) which meshes with a neighbouring gear wheel (7), and for the gear wheel (8) to be capable of being deformed by mechanical overload, the deformation of the gear wheel (8) automatically cancelling the toothed engagement with the meshing gear wheel (7), counter to a restoring force. <IMAGE>
