PURPOSE:To enable linear change of a transmission ratio according to a road surface state and the running state of an automobile, by a method wherein belt type continuously variable transmission mechanisms are respectively located between the output shaft on the front wheel side of a central differential device, differentiating front and rear wheels, and front wheels and between an output shaft on the rear wheel side and rear wheels. CONSTITUTION:A central differential device 2, normally differentiating the front and the rear wheels of a four-wheel-drive car has an input shaft 21 for a drive force from a transmission 1 and output shafts 22 and 23 on the front and the rear wheel side, respectively, adapted to transmit a power to front wheels Fr and rear wheels Rr. A pair of pinion gears 25 are supported on the input shaft 21 through a pinion shaft 24, and side gears 26 and 27 on the front and rear wheels, respectively, geared with the pinion gear 25 are mounted on the output shafts 22 and 23, respectively. In this case, a belt type continuously variable transmission mechanism, comprising drive pulley 3 and driven pulley 4, formed with stationary sheaves 31, 41 and variable sheaves 32, 42, and a belt 5 stretched around the two pulleys 3 and 4, is mounted between the output shaft 23 on the rear wheel side and the rear wheels Rr.
