PURPOSE:To read a fuel consumption rate in real time during traveling by composing a meter of a speed sensor, a flow rate sensor, an arithmetic means, and a consumption rate display part. CONSTITUTION:The rotating speed of the main shaft 2 of the transmission 1 of an automobile is detected by the speed sensor 5 and converted into an electric signal, which is inputted to the arithmetic means 6. A fuel pipe 9 extends from a fuel tank 8 so as to feed fuel F to an engine 7 and the flow rate sensor 12 is provided in the middle of the pipe in addition to a fuel pump 10 and a filter 11. The sensor 12 detects the volume of the fuel F passing in the fuel pipe 9 at specific intervals and converts it into an electric signal. Further, the arithmetic means 6 computes (traveling speed/flow rate of fuel F) by using the electric signal from the flow rate sensor 12 and the electric signal from the speed sensor 5 and the consumption rate display part 14 displays the electric signal as the fuel consumption rate.
