In a fastener hook of a chain, in particular of an ornamental chain, which fastener hook can be actuated by means of a spring fastener and in which a U-shaped fastener bow, which is fixed by means of an adjusting spring and a pin, is mounted with rotary movement in a receiving gap, and the one leg of the U forming the hook in the rest position and the other leg of the U being rotatable about the pin counter to the closing force of the adjusting spring via an outwardly projecting lug, the fastener bow (8) has, in the bottom part of the U, a groove (13) which is open at one end and whose bottom point is pressed via the adjusting spring (4) against the pin (12). In this case, the receiving gap (7) is dimensioned in terms of its length and assigned to the pin (12) such that the fastener bow (8) can be introduced as a whole into the receiving gap (7) and can be fitted together with the groove (13) over the pin. In a chain fastener of this type, the production methods can be simplified considerably since the fastener bow as a whole can be introduced laterally. <IMAGE>
