In addition to the end-sensing device (5) at the end of the stack (3), at least one further sensing device (7) is arranged in the feed path of the stack (3). When the apparatus is put into operation, this sensing device (7) is activated during the build-up of the stack and sets the subsequent drive devices in motion for the further transport of the stack. In the case of a stack transport in a plurality of tiers, the sensing device is preferably arranged in the region of reversal between an upper tier and a tier located underneath it.
