The sensing needle (38) of a sensory measuring device (10) is mounted in a ball (24) in such a way that it can be swivelled to all sides and can be axially displaced. The extension (30) of the sensing arm (38) lies in a rotationally symmetrical recess (56) of a slide (44), the contour of which is calculated such that a lateral deflection of the sensing tip (40) results in an axial displacement of the slide (44) in a ratio of 1:1. This displacement is indicated by a dial gauge (52). The sensory measuring device (10) can be used both for radial sensing and for axial sensing. <IMAGE>
