A system control apparatus (4) is used to control the sequence of steps for obtaining a magnetic resonance signal. A control command and a delay command, which are used for carrying out the control of the sequence of steps, are pre-installed in a time-plan memory (11) of the system control apparatus (4). The control of the sequence of steps is achieved by means of a memory control apparatus (10) reading out these commands one after the other from the time-plan memory (11). When the delay command is read out, no commands stored in the time-plan memory (11) are read out for a predetermined time span, which is established by means of delay time data which are stored in a delay memory (12). <IMAGE>
