A filament winding method and apparatus is provided for winding bodies with fibre tow impregnated with solvated condensation resin (15) in which, using a multistage evaporator-reactor (19) with consecutive heating means (8A, 8B) solvent is evaporated in the first stage (8A) at a first temperature then the resin is at least partially reacted in the second stage (8B) at a second temperature higher than the first temperature and the tow is then wound on a mandrel (24) while being heated to a third temperature at least equal to the second and being consolidated (at 26). The invention may be used to make components for gas turbine engines.
