<p>The device comprises a vertical tube 1 intended to receive the stem of a last to be immobilised. This tube encloses a horizontal disc (6), intended to support the stem of this last, and this tube has vertical slots (8) enabling it to contract. Moreover, a cylindrical gripping ring (10) is arranged around this tube, this ring having a conical ramp (11) on the inside which complements another conical ramp (9) provided on the periphery of the tube (1) at its upper end. In point of fact, this ring is connected, via pulling strips (13), to the pivoting manoeuvring handles (15) of an actuating device permitting control of the sliding of the ring (10) on the tube (1) and, consequently, gripping of this tube on the stem (5) of the last to be immobilised.
