PURPOSE:To attain both facsimile communication and personal computer commu nication by means of a common telephone line by automatically discriminating whether it is personal computer communication or facsimile communication based on an identification signal transmitted from an opposite, and switching the telephone line to a facsimile connection terminal. CONSTITUTION:When there is incoming from the telephone line, a network control part 2 detects a bell signal and informs to a communication control part 8. The communication control part 8 supervises a V27ter MODEM 3 and a 1100Hz detection circuit 4 for 5-6 sec, whereby it discriminates whether it is personal computer communication or fasimile communication. If it is facsim ile communication, the bell signal from a facsimile bell signal generation circuit 7 is transmitted. If there is automatic incoming in a facsimile by the bell signal, the network control part 2 detects it by an answering detection circuit 6, and switches a line switching relay 5.
