PURPOSE:To hold the secret content of a printed recording item, by taking up an ink ribbon by the take-up core on a take-up side so as to turn the ink layer thereof to the inside and bringing a return circuit electrode into contact with the outer peripheral surface of the ink ribbon taken up by the take-up core on the take-up side or the vicinity thereof. CONSTITUTION:Recording paper P is moved to a predetermined position where printing is performed by a paper feed mechanism 18 and the current corresponding to an image signal is injected in the heat generating resistor layer 11 of an ink ribbon 14 from a printing head 16 with the start of printing scanning. By this method, Joule heat is generated in the beat generating resistor layer 11 and the ink of an ink layer 13 is transferred to the recording paper P to record an image. Further, the current injected in the heat generating resistor layer 11 from the printing head 16 is transmitted to a conductive layer 12 to be fed back to the return circuit electrode 17 arranged so as to be brought into contact with the surface of the outermost layer of the ink ribbon 14 taken up by the take-up core 15b on a take-up side. As a result, Joule heat is generated at the contact position and the ink of the ink residual image formed on the ink layer 13 is melted and brought into contact with the ink ribbon 14 to flow to the vicinity of the circumference thereof and the ink residual image formed on the ink layer 13 is erased. By this constitution, the secret content of a printed recording item can be held. |
