PURPOSE:To prevent the production of accidental erasure by controlling the end of the erasure by a preceding erasure head and the end of the write by a write/read head in the timing in response to an interval between the write/ read head and the preceding erasure head based on an index signal obtained in response to the rotation of a recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A disk 1 is driven at a constant angular velocity by a motor 2 and the write/read head 3 is in contact with an optional track on the disk 1 and the erasure head 4 is in contact with a location in preceding to the head 3. A control circuit 5 is in written state during the period of the data at data write, an erasure current is supplied to the preceding erasure head 4 through a switch 8 and the erasure current is cut off before a time TD when an index signal Id' is generated. Thus the possibility of accidental erasure of the start and end of a recording track is precluded. |
