PURPOSE:To improve the change of the sensitivity of a coating solution due to the lapse of time by incorporating prescribed amounts of a water soluble bromide and an org. solvent which has <=6.0 dielectric constant and a high boiling point, in a silver halide emulsion which contains the silver halide having a high content of chloride. CONSTITUTION:At least one layer of the silver halide emulsion layers contains silver halide particles having the high content of the chloride of >=90mol.% silver chloride, and contains 0.05-2mol.% the water soluble bromide per 1mol. the silver halide and the high boiling point org. solvent having <=6.0 the dielectric constant. The addition of the water soluble bromide can be carried out at the optical period from the time of chemical aging of the silver halide emulsion to the time of coating said smulsion. For example, said bromide can be added by mixing with a compd. such as a stabilizer, etc., which is added at the end of the chemical aging, or said bromide and said stabilizer can be added separately at the same period. They are added at the time of preparing the coating solution. However, the latter is preferable. Thus, the titled material having the improved rapid processing and the high sensitivity is obtd., and the change of the sensitivity of the titled material against the change with the lapse of the time in producing the titled material is reduced.
