PURPOSE:To improve the error detection capability of an error detection code by synthesizing a part of a redundant code of an error detection code and an identification signal according to a prescribed rule such as exclusive OR to generate a code signal and recording the said code signal in place of the identification signal. CONSTITUTION:The redundant code of the error detection code and the identification signal ID are synthesized according to a prescribed rule in a digital data recorder where the identification signal ID indicating a series of recording is added to each block whose error is detectable by the error check code such as a CRC to generate a code signal IDm, which is recorded in place of the identification signal ID. For example, the data of a part of the redundancy code of the error check code and the identification signal ID are synthesized by exclusive OR to generate a code signal IDm. Thus, the maximized bit number is provided to the CRC and the error check capability is improved.
