PURPOSE:To improve the search speed by obtaining moving distance information till the head of an object music by start position information of the object music and the absolute time information of the present position relating thereto and feeding the tape till the value of a linear counter. CONSTITUTION:The moving distance time from the present position till the head of the object music is obtained by subtracting an absolute time when a start ID signal of the object music is recorded from the absolute time of the present position of the tape by a system controller 20. The system controller 20 sums the values (time) of the linear counter of the present position for the moving distance time to obtain the count (time) of the linear counter at the head of the object music. Thus, the tape is fed at a high speed by the FF (fast feed) or REW (reversing) till the value of the linear counter obtained in this way. Thus, the program search of a music is attained at a higher speed than the conventional high speed search while looking for the sub code.
