PURPOSE:To make it possible to minimize a difference between high and low specific gravity of electrolyte by providing a group of plates comprising hollow spaces without any active material filled therein sections of a plate divided into a plurality in its vertical direction and supports of electrolyte made of glass fibers at the sections, where an active material is filled, of a plate connected together by only substrates. CONSTITUTION:Some hollow spaces are provided by dividing plates into plural sections and each support of electrolyte formed in the form of a sheet made of glass fibers is also divided so as to prevent the electrolyte in a retainer from being moved vertically. For example, positive plates 4 and a negative plate 5 are provided with hollow spaces 6 not filled with active material at respective two positions, connected to each other only by substrates 7 and each of them is divided into three sections. Each support 3, of electrolyte formed in a sheet shape made of glass fibers is also divided into three sections so as to provide the hollow spaces 6 and stacked on the divided plates. Accordingly, it is possible to prevent the electrolyte at two positions from being moved vertically so that a difference in specific gravity of the electrolyte can be decreased to about a half. |
