PURPOSE:To realize a row reading control without increasing load on the description of a ship describer, by providing a ship having a control field on which a skip control character set in advance at every character writing row is printed. CONSTITUTION:The ship 21 is provided with two rows of character writing rows 22a and 22b and the control field 24 on which the skip control character 23 is printed in advance. When the slip 21 is used, after completing the reading of the character written on the character writing row 22a, the character writing row 22b of the next row is skipped and the slip 21 is ejected by detecting the skip control character 23 printed on the control field 24. When no slipping of the character writing row 22b is desired, a reject character (a) is generated by correcting the skip control character 23 before the slip 21 is set, or a skip control character denying character (b) set in advance is generated. In such a way, it is possible to perform the row reading control without increasing the load on the writing of the slip describer.
