PURPOSE:To listen to an incoming message as well as an incoming time in voice by adding a function using a voice synthesizing circuit to display the time in voice to an automatic answering telephone set. CONSTITUTION:When an incoming call by a dial pulse comes in absence, an incoming detection circuit 23 detects an incoming call, a CPU 26 starts a sound recording/reproducing circuit 24 to record the message of a sender onto a recording medium 27 via a communication circuit 20 and stores the time information as a digital data represented by a clock 28 into a RAM 29. When the reproduction of a recorded message is designated by designating a special number from a visiting place via a telephone circuit, a remote control signal receiving circuit 25 receives it and the reproduction is requested to the CPU 26. The CPU 26 starts the sound recording/reproducing circuit 24 to reproduce the recorded message into the recording medium 27 as a voice and the time information is read from a RAM 29 to convert the time information into the synthesized tone by a time voice synthesizing circuit 30 and both are given to a telephone set in the visiting place from a telephone circuit via the communication circuit 20.
