A reagent which is sensitive to the presence of bacteria is put in the packaging in a container. It is arranged that as the food package is closed, the container containing the reagent is gened so that the reagent is exposed to the same environment as the food. In particular, the reagent can be selected so that when the level of bacteria exceeds a predetermined value, the reagent changes colour. |
