PURPOSE:To improve the efficiency and the power factor of an induction motor by switching the secondary side of a transformer to alter the input voltage of the motor, thereby controlling the speed to supply a sine wave to the motor. CONSTITUTION:Different output voltages 9, 9' are obtained through a transformer 2 from an input power source 1. The voltages 9, 9' are connected through switching elements 3, 3' to a secondary line 5 to supply power to an induction motor. Information from a current sensor 8, a load monitor 8' and a temperature sensor 8'' is processed in a microcomputer 7 to control trigger circuits 4 and 4' that switch ON the optimum elements 3, 3'.
