PURPOSE:To permit solidification and formation of metal powder having uniform quality and to permit continuous recovery of said powder by providing discharge ports to the largest diameter part in the central part of a rotary drum, housing the discharged cooling liquid and metal powder into a circulating discharge path and connecting a separating/recovering means to the circulating discharge path. CONSTITUTION:The central part in the height direction of the rotary drum 9 disposed with a cooling liquid replenishing pipe 18 is formed as the largest diameter part 11a and >=2 pieces of the discharge ports 12 are provided to the part 11a so as to project therefrom. The metal powder and cooling liquid discharged under the centrifugal force by the high speed rotation of the drum 9 from the ports 12 are received in the circulating discharge path 14 enclosing the peripheral wall 11 of the drum. The pipe-shaped separating/recovering member having a filter part 15 is connected to one end of the path 14. The cooling liquid is permeated through the filter part 21 so that the metal powder and the cooling liquid are separated and recovered. The quickly cooled and solidified metal powder is thereby continuously produced without interrupting the operation.
