PURPOSE:To facilitate an operation by outputting continuously speed information or acceleration information containing direction information obtained from latest X information and Y information outputted from a mechanism part in accordance with the operation of a switch. CONSTITUTION:When a switch 1 is operated in the course of bringing a pointing device during a moving operation, speed information containing direction information or acceleration information containing direction information at the time point of its operation is read out of a memory 17, and after its time point, and said information is outputted continuously to a host computer 4 side from a control circuit 16, until a switch 2 is operated. Accordingly, until the switch 2 is operated after the switch 1 is operated, even if the pointing device is stopped or returned to its original position, moving information is transmitted to a host computer from the pointing device, as if the pointing device is moving continuously at the same speed or acceleration as the time point of an operation of the switch 1, and displayed on a CRT display. In such a way, an operator can set freely a large position coordinate in a small moving range.
