PURPOSE:To prevent compressive deformation during a manufacturing process by a method wherein a part of the edge part of a pipe plate having not inlet and outlet tanks and bent toward a laminate of adjoining pipe plates which are directed inwardly in respect to its flat surface and is applied as a spacer. CONSTITUTION:A heat exchanger is composed of a laminate of two plate-like pipe plates 1. A fluid passage is formed between an inlet tank 1A and an outlet tank 1B forming an inlet port and an outlet port for fluid arranged at its upper edge part, and at the same time a plurality of flat pipes having spacers of desired length are piled up by brazing method at the other edge part to form a layered type heat exchanger. In this heat exchanger, a circumferential edge flange part 1E at the lower end of the pipe plate 1, at its half part, is extended downwardly; this extension 2 is bent inwardly at an accute angle against the flat surface of the pipe plate 1. At the same time its extremity end part is bent downwardly in a vertical direction to provide a spacer for assemblying of an evaporator.
