PURPOSE:To make a three-dimensional digitizer convenient to carry by reducing the wt. thereof and to enhance accuracy and reliability, in the three-dimensional digitizer inputting the coordinates of the position designated by the leading ends of a plurality of arms connected in a freely bendable manner, by composing each of the arms of a fiber reinforced composite material. CONSTITUTION:A three-dimensional digitizer 4 is connected to a computer 1 having CRT 2 by an interface cable 5 and a photoswitch 9 is further connected to the digitizer 4. An object 10 is placed on the table of this digitizer 4 and a robot type leading end arm 6A consisting of a plurality of arms 6 and a sensors 7 capable of detecting the angles of rotation of the arms 6 is brought into contact with the object 10. Each of the arms 6 and the leading end arm 6A consist of a fiber reinforced composite material to reduce the wt. of the digitizer 4. The position of the object 10 is designated on the leading end arm 6A by the operation of the switch 9 and the three-dimensional position from the digitizer 4 is displayed on CRT 2.
