PURPOSE:To obtain a compsn. having excellent heat resistance, mechanical characteristics and flame retardance, by deriving a copolyester from an arom. diol, an arom. dicarboxylic acid and an arom. hydroxycarboxylic acid and contg. a specified phosphorus compd. CONSTITUTION:A compsn. is obtd. by blending an arom. copolyester which has an intrinsic viscosity not lower than 0.5, is composed of 5-95mol.% of repeating units of formula I and is a copolyester derived from an arom. diol component, an arom. dicarboxylic acid component and an arom. hydroxycarboxylic acid component, with 0.05-10wt.% (in terms of phosphorus atom) phosphorus compd. having a plasticizing action. A copolyester mainly composed of structural units of formulas I, II and III wherein the molar ratio of the unit of formula I to that of formula II is I and the molar ratio of the unit of formula I to that of formula III is 95/5-5/95 is preferred. In the formulas, Ar<1> is a trivalent arom. group; Ar<2> and Ar<3> are each a bivalent arom. group.
