PURPOSE:To prevent the malfunctions of a control lever by securing the different selection operating directions of the lever so that the advance of the lever is prevented when the lever is operated into an inhibited range in a wrong operating direction. CONSTITUTION:It is possible to avoid occurrence of a big problem to the travel of a vehicle even though the ranges N, D and 2 set in the same selecting direction are selected mistakenly with each other. When the selection is changed to a range R from the range N, it is required to operate a control lever 20 via a crank groove part 44a of a guide groove 44. When the range D is changed to the range N, the lever 20 hits the groove part 44a and is unable to advance in the same direction toward the range N. Thus it is possible to surely prevent such a trouble where the lever 20 is applied to the range R by mistake when the selection is charged to the range N from the range D. While an operator can intentionally change the range N to the range R via the groove part 44a.
