PURPOSE:To shorten time for taking goods in and out a warehouse and reduce floor space for a stacker crane in a sterical waterhouse, or otherwise, by providing a fork supporting arm on the carriage of a stacker crane protrudingly from the warehouse entrance side and mounting a fork extension-contraction device rotatably on the fork supporting arm. CONSTITUTION:When a stacker crane 5 stops at a warehouse entrance, a fork extension-contraction device 12 is extended or contracted, an extension- contraction fork 13 is inserted into a hole in the center of a goods 15, a carriage 10 is slightly raised and the goods 15 is supported with the extension-contraction fork 13. Next, the fork extension-contraction device 12 is contracted and, at the same time, the stacker crane 5 is moved in a manner so that the center of axis of the form extension-contraction device 12 and a storage section will dualize. Then, the fork extension-contraction device 12 is turned 90 deg. to face the storage section accurately, the fork extension-contraction device 12 extended to insert into the supporting beam of the goods 15 and the goods 15 is stored. Time for taking goods in and out of a warehouse can be shortened and the floor space can be reduced by this constitution.
