PURPOSE:To improve scratch resistance and not to form waterdrop even in water attachment in producing a waterdrop-proof mirror by providing a metallic reflecting film on the back of plate soda glass, by adding a metallic ion to the surface part of the plate glass. CONSTITUTION:A metallic salt containing a metallic ion (e.g. copper ion or silver ion) is positioned on the surface of plate soda glass 1. Then the plate glass is calcined, sodium ion on a surface part 5 is subjected to ion exchange with the metallic ion in the metallic salt and the metallic ion is added to the surface part 5 of the plate soda glass 1. Then the plate soda glass is washed to remove the residue and a metallic reflecting film 4 is formed on the back of the plate soda glass 1 to give the aimed waterdrop-proof mirror 6. Consequently, since the metallic ion is contained on the surface part 5 of the plate soda glass 1, wear resistance is improved, hydrophilic nature is raised and waterdrop is not formed even if water is attached to the mirror, watching and recognizing properties are improved. |
