PURPOSE:To reduce the adverse influence of the title surfactant remaining after use by preparing the nonionic surfactant consisting of an alkylene oxide- addition compd. shown by a specified general formula and having a polymerizable group. CONSTITUTION:Nonylphenol or lauryl alcohol is used as the raw material, the material is heated and allowed to react with glycidyl methacrylate in the presence of a catalyst, and alkylene oxide is further added to the reaction composition to obtain the surfactant. The surfactant is the compd. shown by formula I (R1 is 8-30 C alkyl, alkenyl, and alkylaryl, M is H and methyl, A is a 2-4 C alkylene group, (n) is 0-100 integer, and (m) is an integer of 1-200.
