Shellac, or other fixing substances, e.g. molten glue, is applied to a plate which is of aluminium with a coating of polytetrafluoroethylene, on the underside of which is an electrical heating device. When the shellac or similar substance has melted, the end of the pearl silken strand is dipped in it, and then removed for cooling and setting. A bead is then taken by means of pliers, and placed in a bowl-shaped formation in a pin, where it is heated to the requisite temp. The end of the silken strand is then inserted into the heated bead, where the shellac or glue melt again, and the process is then repeated until all pearls in the necklace are properly secured. |
