PURPOSE:To display the remaining quantity of sheets by detecting approach of a magnet by means of a magnet provided on the bottom plate for supporting and pushing up said sheets in a paper feeding cassette and a lead switch provided in a position opposite to said magnet. CONSTITUTION:Sheets 5 in a paper feeding cassette 4 are piled on a bottom plate 6. The bottom plate 6 is lifted up accompanying the reduction of the sheets 5 by means of a push-up lever 7, and a magnet 8 provided on a part of the bottom plate 6 is also lifted up. When the magnet 8 enters the operating range of a lead switch 9 provided in the vicinity of a pickup roller 3, the lead switch 9 is operated causing a display 10 to display the reduction of the sheets. The remaining quantity to be displayed is controlled by the intensity of the magnet 8 and the position of the lead switch 9. Thereby, the discontinuation of the feeding of the sheets can be prevented with a simple device and the supply of sheets can be rationalized improving operating efficiency.
