NEW MATERIAL:A coupler shown by formula I (R1 and R2 are H, alkyl or aryl with the proviso that R1 and R2 are not H at the same time). EXAMPLE:2-(3'-Methyl-2'-hydroxyphenyl)-5-acetoacetylaminobenzotriazole. USE:A raw material for azo dyestuff. Azo dyestuffs capable of improving light resistance of dyestuff itself, further light resistance of materials to be dyed with the dyestuffs, especially azo pigment can be obtained. PREPARATION:A 5-aminobenzotriazole compound shown by formula II is acylated with a diketene or acetoacetic ester, etc., to give a coupler shown by formula I.
