NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by formula I (A is tetrafunctional aromatic group; R<1> and R<2> are H or ester-forming organic group; H or aromatic ring may be replaced with halogen-containing 1-20C hydrocarbon). EXAMPLE:A compound shown by formula II. USE:A raw material for polyesters having excellent heat resistance and flame retardance and an additive such as stabilizer, flame-retardant, etc. PREPARATION:An organic phosphorus compound shown by formula III is reacted with a cyclic conjugated diketone (preferably 1,4-benzoquinone) in a state of excess amount of the latter based on the former in a proper solvent (e.g. xylene, ethyl cellosolve, etc.).
