PURPOSE:To efficiently separate a hydrocarbonic compd. dissolved in water or an aq. soln. with a simple operation by bringing a cellulosic material into contact with the water or aq. soln. dissolving the hydrocarbonic compd. CONSTITUTION:A cellulosic material such as wood pulp is brought into contact with the water or aq. soln. contg. the hydrocarbonic compds. such as saturated or unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbons and aromatic hydrocarbons and wherein halogens can be contained. As a result, the hydrocarbonic compds. dissolved in water or an aq. extract can be efficiently and selectively separated and removed with a simple operation such as filtration.
