PURPOSE:To firmly deposit palladium on a carrier and to enhance the activity of the title catalyst by adsorbing palladium chloride on the carrier, and then reducing the palladium chloride to form the catalyst carrying palladium. CONSTITUTION:The aq. soln. of the chloropalladate such as calcium chloropalladate, sodium chloropalladate, and magnesium chloropalladate is prepared. The suspension of a carrier such as calcium carbonate and alumina and the aq. chloropalladate soln. is heated to adsorb and deposit the chloropalladate ion on the carrier. The carrier is separated from the suspension by filtration, etc., and then the chloropalladate ion is reduced to palladium by an alcohol to obtain the palladium catalyst. The obtained palladium catalyst is separated and dried, and the catalyst is used for various applications.
