Connection is made to a flat cable 11, having coplanar stranded metal conductors 32 in insulation (35) and held by clips 42 against the upper wall 18 of an inverted U -shaped channel 5, by means of a plug 47 insertable through the opening in the channel and having sharp prongs 51 which pierce the cable insulation and contact conductors 32. The plug is retained in position by its shoulders 88 bearing against the lower of two identical U-shaped fixing brackets 106, 107. The prongs are forced into the cable when bolts 113 are tightened, the penetration being limited by tongues 62, 63 which slide in grooves 60, 61 and guide the plug on insertion. Tongue 62 is larger than tongue 63 so that it will fit in groove 60 only, thus assuring correct phase orientation. |
