PURPOSE:To prevent fluctuation of development of a gas bag, in a pad for covering and containing the gas bag which inflates to protect a crewman, by forming a crimp pattern having specific undulation onto the outer face of a breakable thin section formed at a predetermined position. CONSTITUTION:A pad 11 for normally covering and containing a gas bag which is inflated by gas being fed from an inflator upon collision of vehicle in order to protect a crewman from shock is formed from soft synthetic resin into a box which is easily breakable upon inflation of the gas bag. A thin section 11a is formed into H-shape when viewed from above on the upper wall 11A of the pad 11 such that it is broken at a predetermined position upon inflation of the gas bag. Here, a crimp pattern 11d having height of undulation (h) shorter than 10% of the thickness (t) (about 0.5mm) at the thin section 11a is formed on the outer faces of the upper wall 11A and respective side walls 11B-11E of the pad 11 including the outer face of the thin section 11a. Consequently, the gas bag can be developed uniformly. |
