PURPOSE:To reduce the amount of data to be sent by detecting the appearance feature of a code and adding a control code corresponding to the feature. CONSTITUTION:A screen data gathering processing means 11 reads variable data required for screen display out of a data base 16 stored with on-line information of a power system and fixed data out of a file 17 for a fixed format, generate the whole image plane of image data for the screen display by picture elements, and passes it to a screen data compression processing means 12. Refresh image data of two-byte constitution is separated by bytes and when the same refresh data repeated, said data are put together. The screen data which are thus compressed are passed to a transmission processing means 13 and sent to a remote terminal system 2 through a communication controller.
