PURPOSE:To distinguish fixed trouble and momentary trouble from each other by outputting a signal informing that error continuously occurs in the same bit of the same address if error continuously occurs there. CONSTITUTION:Data read out from a storage device 1 is discriminated by an ECC circuit 6 with respect to presence/absence of error, and error is corrected and data is set to a data register 8. In case of the first error, backup registers 7a and 9a are reset and an output 10a of a comparing circuit 11 is significant, and error log is accumulated in a processor 3. When the second and following errors occur, the output of the comparing circuit 11 is not significant and error is not reported to the processor if the error occurs in the same bit of the same address. If error continuously occurs in the same bit of the same address, a counter 13 overflows and an output 10b becomes significant to report the error.
