<p>The invention relates to a control system for identifying persons (1) and objects with an identity card (4) for the person or object, which carries identifying features, and with a reading and evaluation device (18, 23) for reading off and evaluating the identifying features present on the identity card (4). To allow a simple and rapid check, the reading and evaluation device (18, 23) has a light source (5) and a photoreceiver (9) with following evaluation electronics (19 to 23).
