PURPOSE:To shorten the trial-and-error time which follows up a time response simulation, by inferring and determining an adjustment of a design parameter and a characteristic of a control system after the constitution, based on knowledge information. CONSTITUTION:From a controlled system input device 3, the dynamic characteristic of a controlled system is inputted by a state space expression, and from a control system design specification input device 4, design specifications such as a rise time, a damping time, a setting time, etc., are inputted. A design parameter adjusting device 5 receives the inputted dynamic characteristic and design specification, and determines a design parameter, based on knowledge information of a data base 6. A control constant calculating device 7 calculates a control constant from the dynamic characteristic and the design parameter. The designed control system is evaluated as to its performance by a control performance evaluating device 8.
