PURPOSE:To enhance heat-accumulating density, reduce the size of a pressure vessel and supply thermal energy of favorable property free from lowering of temperature, by a method wherein capsules containing shape-stabilized polyethylene and a fluid heat-transmitting medium are contained in a high-pressure water tank of a steam accumulator. CONSTITUTION:Each of the capsules 6 contains therein a latent heat type heat- accumulating material (pellets or round rods in form) consisting of shape-stabilized polyethylene and a fluid heat-transmitting medium, e.g., water or a silicone oil. When accumulating heat, steam is blown into the pressure vessel 3 through nozzles 4, and when the temperature of pressurized water 5 is raised above 135 deg.C, shape-stabilized polyethylene is melted and heat is accumulated as latent heat. When releasing heat, a controlling valve 2 is opened, whereby water 5 is evaporated, and the resultant steam is discharged. When the temperature of water 5 is lowered below 135 deg.C, polyethylene is solidified, and a steam of a constant temperature approximate to 135 deg.C is discharged. |
