Installation for the wet treatment of textile materials placed on materials carriers, including a tank with a substantially horizontal axis resting directly on the ground and at least one end of which is provided with a door for the inlet and outlet of at least one materials carrier. Each materials carrier PM intended to be housed in the tank 10 includes a base made as a box-structure with a solid bottom fitted, on its periphery, with at least one opening for connection to an opening of an adjacent materials carrier or for connection to a first tube 39 of the appliance 36 for setting fluid in motion which opens out into a wall 12 of the tank 10 so as to establish continuity of the circulation path of the treatment fluid in one direction, circulation of the said fluid in the other direction taking place outside the textile materials.
