PURPOSE:To obtain a resin outstanding in transparency, useful as an optical material, by polymerization of a radically polymerizable polyfunctional monomer in the presence of a radical polymerization initiator followed by molding and by heating the resultant molded article resin in an oxygen gas atmosphere to specified temperature. CONSTITUTION:A radically polymerizable polyfunctional monomer (e.g., diethylene glycol bisallyl carbonate, allyl methacrylate) is polymerized in the presence of ca. 0.5-8mol.% based on said monomer, of a radical polymerization initiator (e.g., benzoyl peroxide, azobisisobutyronitrile) followed by molding. The resultant molded resin is then heated, under an oxygen atmosphere with, in general, an oxygen concentration 50-100% and a pressure ca. 1atm., to ca. 80-120 deg.C, thus obtaining the objective resin. This resin will not develop any crack even when heated to ca. 150 deg.C, thus being highly heat-resistant.
