PURPOSE:To easily and accurately confirm the present position by collating a running locus with the road shape on a map at a necessary time, by displaying the running locus from the fixed position to the present position on the picture corresponding to the map and selectively performing the display and non-display of the running locus. CONSTITUTION:A start point is preset on the picture of a display apparatus 5 allowed to correspond to a road map by an operation apparatus 6. The running distance and direction of a moving body are detected by distance and direction detectors 1, 2 with the running of the moving body and the position of the moving body on two-dimensional coordinates at every unit running distance is calculated on the basis of the detectors 1, 2 by a signal processing apparatus 3 and the calculation result is stored in a running locus memory apparatus 4 and held thereto. At the same time, the direction signal at the present position is successively sent from the apparatus 3 to the apparatus 5. However, without always displaying the running locus on the apparatus 5, a display order is emitted to the apparatus 3 from the apparatus 6 if necessary and, by this constitution, the apparatus 3 performs control so as to read the content of the running locus memory apparatus 4 to display the same on the apparatus 5. By this method, a driver collates the running locus with the road shape on a map at a necessary time to make it possible to confirm the present position. |
