PURPOSE:To detect a normally recorded information track or not, and to eliminate read-out of a track having an error and unnecessary retrying at the time of reproduction, by executing an error check of information recorded in an information recording medium, and recording a mark for showing whether an error exists or not. CONSTITUTION:A host control unit 9 is connected to a recording and reproducing device (drive) 19, and between the devices 19, 9, communication, a control, etc., of a data are executed. A card 1 on which a tracking track 5 has been placed at an equal interval is inserted into this device 19. This card 1 is detected by a sensor and fed in the direction L by turning of a motor 14, and by using light emitting and light receiving elements 37, 36, a state of each track of the card 1 is checked. Said each track 5 is executed repeatedly by a movement of an optical pickup 18, and whether an error by a G mark 7 recorded at the time of recording exists or not is checked. Subsequently, a normal recorded track or not is detected by a result of the check, and it becomes unnecessary to execute read-out of a track having an error and unnecessary retrying.
