PURPOSE:To enable the considerable reduction in the time required for the purge and the complete substn. of the atmosphere gas over the entire part in a furnace by introducing purging gas in each zone forming the continuous annealing furnace and sucking the gas in approximately the intermediate position over the entire part of the furnace. CONSTITUTION:The stop valve 14 of a gaseous AX piping 9 is closed to supply gaseous N2 of a prescribed pressure and flow rate into a gaseous N2 piping 8. Then the gaseous N2 is blown from the top and bottom parts in the heating part 2, primary and secondary soaking parts 3, 4, primary and secondary cooling parts 5, 7 and overaging part 6 of an annealing furnace 1 into the furnace. The suction of the gas in the furnace is started at this same instant through the piping 11 in the cooling part 5. The gas in the parts 2-5 flows in the advancing direction of a strip and the gas in the parts 6, 7 flows in the direction opposite therefrom and is collected and discharged in the pipe 11 to form good gaseous flow, thereby enabling the relatively early decrease in the concn. of O2 in the furnace. The valve 14 is opened upon completion of the purge of O2 from the inside of the furnace to mix the gaseous AX with the gaseous N2 so that the inside of the furnace is maintained in a desired annealing atmosphere. |
