PURPOSE:To prevent the segregation of a metal to be sampled, by separately providing a sampling pipe cooling means and a sampling container cooling means. CONSTITUTION:Since the cooling of a sampling pipe 1 and the cooling of the sampling container 2 surrounding the sampling pipe 1 are separately performed, the cooling of the sampling container 2 is performed before the cooling of the sampling pipe for freezing a liquid metal is started and the temp. of the sampling container 2 can be preliminarily lowered. Therefore, an area to be cooled at the time of cooling for freezing the liquid metal is limited and the freezing time of the sampled liquid metal can be shortened and, therefore, segregation can be prevented.
